Preparing For Dental Cleanings & Exams

Kids Dental Center is pleased to provide the highest standards of care for children of all ages and needs. As parents, we understand that visiting the dentist can be a challenge for some children and this is why we strive to make the experience positive and fun for children while using age-appropriate techniques and rewards. Some parents may worry that their child will be scared or throw a tantrum and we want you to know that we have seen it all and we know how to manage any distress your child may experience.

Kids Dental Center recommends the following tips to prepare your child for their dental cleaning and exam:

  • Arrange appointments when you know your child is in the best mood (ie, not during naptime)

  • Read a story or a book about going to the dentist

  • Watch a video about going to the dentist

  • Have multiple conversations about what will happen once your child is in the chair

  • Remind your child how important it is to take care of our teeth and visit the dentist for checkups

  • Plan a special reward for after the checkup

As children grow, develop and learn, their behavior becomes more predictable. Keep in mind that one bad experience does not mean it will always be unpleasant. Kids Dental Center is proud to provide excellent dental care for children from infancy to the teen years. If you are ready to schedule a cleaning and exam for your child, please call (423) 458-4147 or schedule an appointment online.
